Tochi Shines With ‘Hold Me Lord’

B
ritish gospel vocalist, Tochi is sending the summer vibes far and wide with her release, ‘Hold Me Lord‘. It is the first track from the artist to find its way over here, and it is a surprise given her distinct quality. The track kicks off with a synth overture which sits on top of a tapping beat rhythm; it is challenging not to tap along. Tochi then suddenly rises to the occasion with a seamless vocal performance. Her tones are warm, and she welcomes the ears in with her delightful technique. However, a bit more backing vocals in places could have been advantageous to fill the stereo space.
As the track progresses, Tochi gets profound with her message, and she opens up about her religious views. She is passionate, and Tochi’s wish is to get closer to the lord, often citing her religion as a rock in her life. Innovatively, Tochi keeps true to her faith and brings a contemporary feel-good groove to the forefront of music. Furthermore, she takes influences from many sources, including afro-pop and Caribbean as well as British pop.
Memorable with her performance, the singer leads the way onward for female Gospel music. Given that she is still relatively early in her career, it will be no surprise to witness the singer climbing to great heights in the upcoming months and years. Nevertheless, she will need even more gems like this one to cement her name in the songbook.
