Tiny Meat Gang, "Broke Bitch" [Photo Credit: Arista]Comedic rap duo Tiny Meat Gang (Cody Ko and Noel Miller) definitely won’t change your life, but are entertaining on single, “Broke Bitch.”

“So quick, bitch, we workin’ both ends / We put shit in motion, we just dipped our toes in, like woah…” Sure Cody Ko – we see you! As I stated previously, when writing about the song “Super Xan” (Bangers & Ass, 2017), you should never take anybody whose name is Tiny Meat Gang seriously.  If you’ve kept up with comedians (and members of the duo) Ko and Noel Miller, you understand this, period. The thing is, this comical rap duo isn’t a total joke – they’re signed to Arista Records.  With a major label deal, how does the single at hand, “Broke Bitch,” play out as far as quality?

Honestly, you can argue the legitimacy of Tiny Meat Gang (as you probably should), but plenty of elements of “Broke Bitch” work soundly.  First and foremost, Diamond Pistols deliver the goods when it comes to the production, which is sleek AF.  In other words, it sounds like the backdrop supporting a normal, trap-loving, southern rap banger.  Naturally, the comic rappers ride the beat with ease, even if they don’t offer the most poetic lyrics. Okay let’s be honest – there’s nothing poetic about this record, as evidenced by the aforementioned excerpt from the chorus.  Noel Miller raps the first verse, assisting Cody Ko on the chorus. Ko then takes the second verse, later splitting the bridge with Miller.  Miller gets the outro, spitting, “If you wanna get in tune, better change whole your pitch / Tell that broke bitch, tell that, tell that broke bitch.” Well, at least some of that advice is actually sensible from a musical perspective.

Final Thoughts

So, to answer the earlier question, how does “Broke Bitch” play out regarding quality? It’s entertaining, but it won’t change your life by any means.  It sounds like a regular rap song, which is the aim, but obviously lyrically, Cody Ko and Noel Miller leave us desiring more substance… or, maybe they don’t, honestly.  I mean, did we really expect much from a collective named Tiny Meat Gang?
