R&B singer Tink makes it clear how much of a dog he’s been on the short but hella potent single, “40x.”
“Real bitches can’t be bought.” Ooh-wee – that’s a mic drop
moment,
Tink (Trinity Laure’Ale Home)! The talented singer keeps it all-the-way real
on her single,
“40x”. Although “40x” is brief, clocking in at just under two-and-a-half minutes in duration, Home makes her point loud and clear. Produced by
Cold Melody, there is nothing cold
about the production – it’s flaming hot, baby
! The contemporary R&B aesthetic is loud and clear, particularly with that sensual, smooth guitar. Even with its smooth vibes, “40x” is set in a minor key, and Tink is feelin’ some type of way: “So tired of bein’ strong, someone come keep me soft.”
With a superb instrumental supporting her, Tinx exhibits no shortage of confidence in her vocal performance. She sounds expressive, locked-in, and nuanced to the nth degree. She doesn’t hold back lyrically despite the sophisticated production. She lets the profanity fly: “Now you’re out playin’ with some other bitch (Bitch) / Niggas be so counterfeit.” Oh, snap
! She further blasts him in the second verse, in addition to the “real bitches” lyric: “I gave you too much credit / And your shit so unauthentic.” WOO! Of course, the most memorable moments come by way of the tuneful chorus, emphasizing 40 in all its glory:
“It’s been forty days since you heard from me
It’s been forty nights since I’ve been asleep
Forty days goin’ through my mind
I’ve got forty lies, forty different times.”
Ultimately, Tink’s love pains are our listening pleasure. Kind of a shame how that works out, right? “40x” is a worthwhile spin by all means!
