Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, The Rest of Our Life © Sony NashvilleTim McGraw and Faith Hill shine on “The Rest of Our Life,” the second single and title track of their upcoming joint album.

It took a while but finally, the joint album has a name and a release date.  That joint album is the highly anticipated collaboration between country husband and wife Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.  The album, which has been in the works for ‘a minute’ is The Rest of Our Life, which sees the light of day on Friday, November 17.  After teaching us the proper way to “Speak to a Girl,” McGraw & Hill release “The Rest of Our Life,” the title track, as the set’s second single.  It should be noted, it was co-written by Ed Sheeran.

From the start, there’s a soulfulness, old-school sensibility about “The Rest of Our Life.” Perhaps it’s the piano, the organ, or the six-feel, but it’s clear the classic vibes are intentional.  This sound bodes well for couple, who’ve been married for years, in addition to being veteran country musicians. It feels warm.  McGraw kicks things off vocally.  He’s commanding as always, but also sentimental, showcasing a gentler quality.  Hill joins him on the chorus, before magnificently singing the second verse.

Expectedly, the vocal chemistry between the two is excellent.  The vocal production only amplifies the magic, highlighting the harmonies. The crowning achievement occurs on the thoughtful, high-flying chorus.

“There’s one thing I should be giving up, giving up now / And that’s worrying about life / Oh, I’ll be fine / If one gray hair shows, I’ll be fine / If my waistline goes, I’ll be fine / Even if time takes its toll / We’ll stay young for the rest of our lives.”

Final Thoughts

All in all, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill shine on “The Rest of Our Life.”  Listening, it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.  Both artists sing well separately and blend excellently together.  One of the biggest surprises – the McGraw falsetto.  The songwriting is superb.
