Country musicians Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen collaborate on the single, “Mama’s House,” which appears on Rhett’s compilation LP, 20 Number Ones.
Country singer 🎙 Morgan Wallen has a hot 🥵 hand 👋 when it comes to chart success beyond country. Can you blame fellow country musician🎙 Thomas Rhett for collaborating with him? Maybe you can 😏 given past problematic actions, but musically, the collab makes sense. On 🎵 “Mamaw’s House”, which graces Rhett’s compilation album, 💿 20 Number Ones, it is Wallen that takes first blood. The sentimental, thoughtful record, which is country to the core, was written by Wallen, Rhett, 🎼 ✍ Matt Dragstrem and Chase McGill. 🎛 Dann Huff and Jesse Frasure produce.
“Mamaw’s House” commences with an intro performed by Wallen: “Sorry, ya’ll, my Mamaw called me, I’ll, I’ll be right back…” Wallen proceeds to perform the first verse and chorus. In the first verse, Morgan recalls the sights, sounds, and smells of his Grandma’s house. Sigh, oh, the nostalgia! Of course, “Cussin’ and complainin’ weren’t allowed at Mamaw’s house.” This is giving typical country music vibes, particularly the chorus:
“If every nightstand had a Bible, every front porch had a swing
If every backyard had a garden, eveyr front door had a screen
Well, maybe this crazy world would straighten up and slow on down
If every town had a Mamaw’s house.”
Southern, southern, southern – something you understand, if like me, you grew up in the south. Thomas Rhett performs the second verse, which continues the nostalgic vibes and meaningfulness of Mamaw’s house. He recalls things she said, “like ‘hellfire,’ ‘tarnation,’ and ‘I reckon’s’.” Fittingly, he performs the second chorus, before Wallen returns for the bridge, and then both share the final chorus. All in all, 🎵 “Mamaw’s House” is reflective, sentimental, and thoughtful. No, it’s not the second coming or something ‘brand-new’ in country music, but it’s a nice moment.
