Welcome to Music Lifts 🎶 🏋, a column that seeks to highlight songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.  Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights!  So, for the 55th edition of Music Lifts 🎶 🏋 (2023), we highlight 🎵 “Hall of Fame” as performed by Irish band, 🎙 The Script and rapper/singer/producer, 🎙 will.i.am.

The Script, #3 [📷: Sony]“Standin’ in the hall of fame (Yeah) / And the world’s gonna know your name,” 🎙 Danny O’Donoghue sings exuberantly in the chorus of the 2012 🎙 The Script gem, 🎵 “Hall of Fame”. YEAH! The Irish front man continues on the highlight from 💿 #3, “‘Cause you burn with the brightest flame (Yeah) / And the world’s gonna know your name (Yeah) / And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame.” Notably, The Script inspire and uplift, with the help of 🎙 will.i.am on this multiplatinum, top-40 pop hit (no. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100). “Hall of Fame” was written by O’Donoghue, will.i.am, 🎼 ✍ Jimbo Barry, and Mark Sheehan. It’s all good vibes, baby!

balancing a barbell on fingerFrom the jump Danny believes in us – all of us 💪 👏.  In the first verse, he asserts, “Yeah, you can be the greatest, you can be best / You can be the King Kong bangin’ on your chest.” WOO!  With the help of will.i.am, he adds, “Dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourself / Standin’ in the hall of fame!” So, if you apply yourself and work hard, you can be anything you want to be.  Word! In the second verse, one of my favorite lines is when O’Donoghue asserts, “You can go the distance, you can run the mile / You can walk straight through hell with a smile.” Say what?! Sure, he’s being metaphorical as opposed to literal, but again, “Hall of Fame” is all about positivity – no party pooping allowed! Other highlights include the post-chorus, where will.i.am further pumps us up: “Be a champion / And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame.” And, solidifying the elementary graduation credibility, per Donoghue on the bridge: “Be students, be teachers / Be politicians, be preachers / Yeah / Be believers, be leaders / Be astronauts, be champions / Be truth-seekers.” Throw in jubilant sounds and production work to support the epic messaging and the lift 🏋 is legit on 🎵 “Hall of Fame”, NO 🚫 CAP 🧢!!!
