In the 16th edition of Head 🗣️ 2 Head 🗣️ (2023), The Pointer Sisters and Omar Rudberg contend for the best rendition of “I’m So Excited.”
Welcome to Head 2 Head! On Head 🗣️ 2 Head 🗣️, we pit at least two musicians singing the same song together, comparing their performances. Then, after much deliberation, we deliver a verdict of which performance was the best, or at least, subjectively, which performance moved us more. In the 16th edition of head 🗣️2 head 🗣️ (2023), 🎙 The Pointer Sisters and 🎙 Omar Rudberg contend for the best rendition of 🎵 “I’m So Excited”. So, without further ado, let the Head 2 Head commence!
1. The Pointer Sisters, “I’m So Excited”
💿 So Excited! • 🏷 RCA • 🗓 1982
“I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it / I’m about to lose control, and I think I like it!” Woo! Sometimes, as listeners, we turn a blind eye to things that are sketchy and at times, inappropriate. With legendary, 🏆 Grammy-winning, R&B sister group 🎙 The Pointer Sisters, there’s nothing horrible that we turned that blind eye to, but it should be noted that we seemed to ignore the sexual nature of their 1982 pop hit, 🎵 “I’m So Excited” (💿 So Excited!)
“Tonight’s the night we’re gonna make it happen
Tonight, we’ll put all other things aside
Give in this time and show some affection
We’re going for those pleasures in the night.”
NSA! Amazingly, The Pointer Sisters had us all fooled with “I’m So Excited,” which peaked at no. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent a total of 40 weeks on the chart. FUN CHART FACT: “I’m So Excited,” which debuted on the charts in September 1982, didn’t reach its peak until October 1984! Okay, now back to the shocking plan concocted – TO FOOL AROUND 😈!!! I suppose because “I’m So Excited” is so catchy, fun, and infectious, we didn’t pay close attention to the theme. Clearly, the sisters are excited about having hot, passionate sex, so much so that they are unconcerned with the happenings of the next day. “We shouldn’t even think about tomorrow / Sweet memories will last a long, long time,” lead vocalist 🎙 Anita Pointer sings, later adding, “And if we’re still playing ‘round, boy, that’s just fine.” Wow! 🎵 “I’m So Excited” is one of those truly unforgettable gems from the 1980s, PERIOD!

2. Omar Rudberg, “I’m So Excited (Club Version)”
🎵 “I’m So Excited (Club Version)” • 🏷 Record Company TEN • 🗓 2023
Venezuelan Swedish singer/actor 🎙 Omar Rudberg has big shoes to fill covering 🎵 “I’m So Excited” originally performed by 🎙 The Pointer Sisters. Of course, 📺 Young Royals standout slays in his new, slick rendition, dubbed, 🎵 “I’m So Excited (Club Version)”. From the onset, the energy is #GIVING, which is the expectation from a song about – wait for it – SEX (see how those sisters shocked us on the original above ⬆️).
Omar Rudberg has the full package, PERIOD. Not only is he incredibly attractive, he’s also a great singer. His tone is sweet and quite pleasant on this modernized rendition of “I’m So Excited.” His performance is balanced – he doesn’t do too much nor is he too safe. Rudberg exudes the personality required of this up-tempo song, which is ultimately innocent enough by today’s standard but still gives #HORNY 😂. It is intriguing to hear him take on this female ‘pleasure’ anthem so fiercely. He does the Sisters justice by all means.

The Verdict 👨🏿⚖️
🎙 The Pointer Sisters or 🎙 Omar Rudberg? Who wins this musical dual? Well, Mr. Rudberg serves up excellence on his cover, 🎵 “I’m So Excited (Club Version)”. No doubt the clubs, particularly the gay clubs, will eat this one up. Still, when it comes to those Pointer Sisters, they are hard to beat. The new take on “I’m So Excited” by Rudberg serves, but we all know that 🎵 “I’m So Excited” belongs to Anita Pointer and company, PERIOD.
