Australian rapper/singer The KID LAROI enlists Grammy-nominated pop artist Miley Cyrus for a sweet remix of “Without You.”
On 🎵 “Without You,” Australian rapper/singer 🎙 The Kid LAROI concluded the first disc of 💿 F*CK LOVE (SAVAGE) with an emo-infused indie-rock cut. He stepped away from hip-hop, providing an intriguing change of pace. While “Without You” wasn’t necessarily the best song from the mixtape, it ended up being incredibly effective, masterfully capturing the ‘fuck love’ sentiment. So, with that said, the addition of 🎙 Miley Cyrus on the remix ups the ante.
With the addition of Cyrus on 🎵 “Without You (Miley Cyrus Remix)”, there’s more contrast, an additional perspective, and generally, more to heart regarding the record. Early on, Miley appears, singing the hella memorable, EMOtional chorus of the record. From there, we get the original verse from The Kid LAROI in all it’s glory. I love the youthful, expressive nature of his voice, which perfectly captures matters of the heart from the perspective of a teen. Cyrus then follows with the pre-chorus before The Kid delivers the chorus and post-chorus. Cyrus ‘helps a brother out’ on portions of the post-chorus, before introducing a brand-new verse. It’s not particularly poetic or earth-shattering mind you, but it totally fits the vibe:
“Feels like sleepin’ with a ghost I called you up to let you know I really wish that we coulda got this right.”
From there, we get the original pre-chorus from The Kid, including the memorable lyric, “Can’t make a wife out of a ho,” followed by the chorus and outro, collaborating at times with Miley.
Final Thoughts 💭
All in all, “Without You (Remix)” is a win for The Kid LAROI. Though short like the original, the addition of Miley Cyrus is definitely a bright spot. It’s a win for him as well as for us, the listeners.
