Grammy-nominated pop singer The Kid LAROI prefaces his debut LP in enjoyable and respectable fashion with the promo single, “Love Again.”
“Can we find love again? Is this time the end?” That is a legitimate question that Charlton Howard, better known as 🎙 The Kid LAROI poses on 🎵 “Love Again”. Following his successful mixtape era ( 💿 F*CK LOVE, in all its expanded versions), Howard has moved on to his album era. “Love Again” serves as a proper promotional single, finding him embracing a pop identity as opposed to rap.
All in all, there are lots of things to praise regarding “Love Again.” The theme and lyrics work well, depicting a an off and on relationship with its fair share of toxicity. “Go ahead and hit me where it hurts,” The Kid LAROI sings in the first verse, adding, “Because at least, then I’ll feel something.” Wow, that’s toxic, for sure! Furthermore, over this rhythmic guitar driven backdrop (produced by 🎛 Cirkut and Omer Fedi), in the second verse, he’s reckless: “I crashed my car into a wall / I tried to text, I shoulda called / Seen blue and red, it won’t be long.” Damn, Charlton! The pre-chorus is catchy, as is the chorus, where the titular lyric appears. Even though The Kid poses the questions about love, listening to the record, the answers should be a resounding NO regarding finding love again.
Final Thoughts 💭
For the 🏆 Grammy-nominated wunderkind, 🎵 “Love Again” marks another respectable, well-rounded single. It is brief, clocking in at under two-and-a-half minutes, but The Kid LAROI makes his point abundantly clear. No, “Love Again” isn’t the second coming but it is definitely worthy of spins, and a solid preface to his debut album.
