The Kid LAROI, BEFORE I FORGET [📷: Columbia]The Kid LAROI conveys those pesky matters of the heart memorably on “A PERFECT WORLD,” the second single from his third LP, BEFORE I FORGET.

Per The Kid LAROI (Charlton Howard, b. 2003), in “A PERFECT WORLD”, “We’d have it all figured out / Baby, you would be my girl / And if they talk, let ‘em talk, baby.” Although “A PERFECT WORLD” is a new song from the Australian pop musician, we, society, have heard this song and dance many times.  Even so, those pesky matters of the heart never grow old, do they? “WORLD” marks the second single (following “A COLD PLAY”, released in September 2025) and sixth track from Howard’s third album, BEFORE I FORGET (arriving January 9, 2026). The Kid LAROI wrote the song with producers Andrew Aged, Daniel Aged, Omer Fedi, and Jack Karaszewski.

There is a lot to like about “A PERFECT WORLD,” even with the world’s blatant imperfections! The Kid LAROI has a sweet backdrop to sing over.  The production work is sleek – a warm, R&B-infused backdrop comprising keys, synths, bass, and drum programming. Beyond the accompaniment, The Kid LAROI does a fine job of delivering the rhythmic melodic lines that occur during the verses. The second verse sounds more in line with melodic/pop-rap (much more rhythmic compared to the first). “Can I just be straight up? I tried to be patient / You left, I told you, ‘Wait up,’ how come you never waited?” he sings, in his feelings, and adds, “Now you got regret for situations you created / I don’t wanna talk unless you really wanna say shit.” Oh, shit!  During the chorus, the first section that the listener hears, The Kid LAROI delivers smooth vocals.  It’s memorable and tuneful as he reminds his ex, “‘Cause I’m still here for what it’s worth, baby.” Does Charlton Howard change the game with “A PERFECT WORLD”? No, but he does deliver another pleasant and well-rounded pop song driven by L-O-V-E.
