elcome to Sunday Refresh ๐, a column that seeks to highlight inspirational songs to uplift the spirit.ย These tracks that appear on Sunday Refresh may or may not be faith-based or religious; the goal is for them to make you feel better โ refreshed.ย So, for the 16th edition of Sunday Refresh, we highlight ๐ต โHe Keeps on Blessing Meโ as performed by legendary Jackson, Mississippi gospel collective, ๐ The Jackson Southernaires.โWhat a gift, we have to share his love / And, independently, we live on nothing but his grace.โ Amen! Hallelujah! That old-school gospel โ man โ it just hits different, period!ย That is why a song like โHe Keeps on Blessing Meโ remains potent years after its arrival.ย The Jackson Southernaires had a surefire, anointed gem on their hands.ย Fittingly, โHe Keeps on Blessing Meโ appears as the first song on their 1985 ๐ฟ Greatest Hits album.
Why is โHe Keeps on Blessing Meโ the perfect Sunday Refresh or perfect spiritual refresh for any day of the week? Itโs a reminder and testimony of Godโs goodness and mercy.ย ย This is an inspirational, uplifting gem that encourages us to trust and lean on Him.ย A prime example of the blessings and mercifulness of The Most High occurs on the second verse:
โI strayed away so many times before And there were so many times I didnโt do right But You gave me strength to go on through the night And still, You watch over me each and every night.โ
Although we are incredibly unworthy, โGodโs got usโ would be a perfect summation of that verse. Throw in a sweet groove, and relatively light but potent production, and โHe Keeps on Blessing Meโ is nothing short of divine.
