The Here And NowThe Here And Now Release “Riptide”

T

his track hits you immediately. Jason Bond’s guitar comes in with this raw edge that refuses to let go, and then Cherry Terzza’s vocals cut through everything. She’s got this way of sounding vulnerable one second and completely in control the next, and it works perfectly for what this song is about.

You know that feeling when you keep going back to something even though you know it’s destroying you? That’s “Riptide.” The title says it all. Before you can even process what’s happening, you’re already pulled in. The lyrics nail that push and pull, that cycle we all get stuck in sometimes.

The rhythm section does exactly what it should. Rich Sackey-Addo keeps the drums locked in and driving forward, while Callum Lowe’s bass gives everything this solid foundation. Nothing flashy, just tight and purposeful. It lets Cherry’s voice take center stage where it belongs.

I can hear traces of bands like Paramore and Queens Of The Stone Age in their sound, maybe even some Royal Blood, but The Here And Now aren’t copying anyone. They’ve figured out when to go heavy and when to pull back for melody, and that balance is what makes “Riptide” stick in your head long after it’s over.

The Brixton band has been playing shows around London since 2020, building up a reputation for bringing real energy to their gigs. “Riptide” captures exactly what makes them worth paying attention to.
