Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the eighth edition of Beaming with Pride (2026), we highlight “I Ain’t Gay (But My Boyfriend Is)” performed by The Boot Scootin’ Sissies.

“He may brush my hand / When passing the salt / And I might not mind at all / But that don’t mean a thing, y’all.”
Hmm, if you say so, The Boot Scootin’ Sissies. But, guess what? You just might be… GAY. If you are G-A-Y, there’s nothing wrong with that. Men are hot 🥵 🔥.  Anyway, throughout the AI-created country band’s song, “I Ain’t Gay (But My Boyfriend Is)”, the protagonist tries to play it straight, in the gayest way possible. “I Ain’t Gay,” not to be confused with the Biscuits Beats song, “I Ain’t Gay” (another AI bop), is the third track from The Boot Scootin’ Sissies’ gay country album, Balls Deep in the Bible Belt.  Let the church say, yass! Randy Bottoms and The Boot Scootin’ Sissies penned this queer joint while Bottoms also produced it.

Of course, they live together and when they go camping, they’re “just two guys in a one-man tent.” I’m calling bullshit.  In the second verse, there’s more physicality, beginning with back massages, things progress, but no worries – “He does this thing that makes me shiver / But I picture trucks the whole dang time.” Internalized homophobia is a dangerous thing! Even in the pre-chorus, as his boyfriend goes to play with his manhood, “I might guide them [his hands] there / But I’m thinking of Daisy Duke, I swear.” Lies.  We’ve all lied about our same-sex desires.  Let it happen, bro!
