Alternative duo The Blancos – Cory Hueston and Jayson Robbins – tap rapper Joyner Lucas on their second major-label single, “We’re Tired.”
“The best way to describe their music is sex, drugs, and 808s.” Alternative duo The Blancos is comprised of Cory Hueston and Jayson Robbins, two musicians who have already experienced the ups and downs of the ‘rock star’ life. Essentially, The Blancos are trying to make an artistic statement, meaning they don’t care who they offend. According to Cory Hueston, “We’re in your face…we don’t give a f**k.” Noted. The duo taps rapper Joyner Lucas for their second major-label single, “We’re Tired.”
Expectedly, “We’re Tired” is dark, heavy, and chocked-full of energy. Adding to the weight of “We’re Tired” is a minor key as well as sleek production, particularly the hard-hitting beat and keyboards. Cory Hueston sings assertively, with incredible edge, as if his life depends on it. He’s amplified by the distortion effect placed on his voice. Rock on. Clearly, he has a purpose, evidenced by a fed-up message on the chorus. “I’m tired of being held down / And I’m tired of watching these people die / And we’re tired of being let down / And we’re tired of watching all people die.” Following a stellar contrasting bridge by Hueston, the electrifying Joyner Lucas contrasts himself with terrific, agile rhymes. Hueston closes out with that awesome chorus one more time.
Final Thoughts
More people need to be talking about The Blancos, period. Once more, this rising alternative duo ‘brings the heat.’ They have the potential to be tremendous crossover artists. Bringing along Joyner Lucas as their featured guest on “We’re Tired” only improves their stock.
