Grammy-winning Nigerian musician Tems shines on her first single of 2023, βMe & U,β which is the definition of a surefire vibe. Β
βThis is my decision, decision,β π Tems sings in the outro of π΅ βMe & Uβ, adding, βI donβt think you listen, you listen.β Ooh-wee! The talented π Grammy-winner from Nigeria brings the heat π₯ on her first single of 2023. Running just over three minutes, βMe & Uβ benefits from its chill sound and vibe from the onset. The warm guitars πΈare sweet. π GuiltyBeatz does a fine job behind the boards, giving Tems an utterly sublime backdrop. Interestingly, the beat doesnβt enter the mix until after the 30-second mark. Upon entering, it anchors things down, in all its groovy, tropical glory. Also, itβs worth noting that the second verse expands the production. Β Itβs never too ornate, just right π!
The supporting instrumental is DEFINITELY a big deal. Also, the straightforward, easy to follow form of βMe & Uβ makes it a winner too.Β Still, the biggest reason why βMe & Uβ thrives is Tems.Β Her voice is gorgeous.Β Furthermore, she has tuneful melodies to sing = #WINNING. The verses are simple, but effective. In the second, for example, she sings uncomplicated, yet meaningful lines like, βMake me your matter,β βMake me your person,β and βI donβt need nothing / You are my everything.β The chorus is repetitive but again, highly effective (βOnly me and youβ¦β). Β All in all, Tems delivers a fabulous single with βMe & Uβ. This is a single where there is nothing objectionable or offensive in the least β just musical goodness. Tems β get it sis!
