Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (12/26/20): Taylor Swift earns her second no. 1 album of 2020 the Billboard 200.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week (Shawn Mendes Takes βWonderβ To No. 1), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that moving. This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations
from the Billboard 200
, and THREE observations
from the Billboard Hot 100
, with
Taylor Swift earning her second no. 1 album of 2020 with
Evermore, as well as scoring another no. 1 debut on the Hot 100 with
βWillow.β
Billboard 200
Continuing her dominance in 2020,
Taylor Swift earns her second no. 1 album of 2020 with
Evermore, moving a robust 329,000 units per Keith Caulfield of Billboard.
Keeping it a
Republic Records affair at the top of the charts,
Kid Cudi launches at no. 2 with
Man on the Moon III: The Chosen. While heβs a distant second from Queen Swift, he still managed to put up nice numbers.
Jack Harlow gets into the Billboard 200 top-five debut action with
Thats What They All Say, which starts at no. 5. His numbers are quite a bit off from both Swift and Cudi, but hey, top-five is top-five!
After earning his fourth no. 1 album with
Wonder,
Shawn Mendes slides out of the top 10! Wonder freefalls from no. 1 to no. 25 in his second week. Day-um Shawn!
Following Jack Harlowβs debut at no. 5, you have to search long and hard to find the next brand-new entry on the Billboard 200. It arrives courtesy of
Sturgill Simpson and
Cuttinβ Grass, Vol. 2: The Cowboy Arms Sessions at no. 127. Beyond that,
The Avalanches arrive at no. 148 with
We Will Always Love You.
Billboard Hot 100
More dominance from

Evermore debut on the Hot 100, including
βChampagne Problemsβ (no. 21),
βNo Body, No Crimeβ (no. 34), and
ββTis the Damn Seasonβ (no. 39).
Kid Cudi experiences some Hot 100 success from his album,
Man on the Moon III: The Chosen, as
βShe Knows Thisβ launches at no. 49, followed by
βShow Outβ (no. 54) and βAnother Dayβ (no. 64) among others.
The Kid LAROI and his late mentor,
