Taylor Swift 3rd Week at No. 1 with Evermore | Scanning the Charts 📉

Scanning the Charts – Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (1/16/21): Taylor Swift returns to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Evermore.   

SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (Playboi Carti Debuts at No. 1), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving.  This week, I picked out three notable observations 🔎 from the Billboard 200 📉,  and three observations 🔎 from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Taylor Swift returning at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Evermore.

Billboard 200 📉

💭 🎙 Taylor Swift returns to the top spot with 💿 Evermore after slipping to no. 2 last week.  The numbers are definitely reflective of the slow start often experienced in the new year, to the tune of 56,000 units per Keith Caulfield. Also, worth noting, while Evermore ascends, 💿 folklore descends from no. 6 to no. 10 in its 24^th week.

💭 Surprisingly, 🎙 Lil Durk sees 💿 The Voice ascend a second straight week from no. 3 to no. 2, though with no gain. 5. 

💭 Interestingly, after earning his first no. 1 album last week, 🎙 Playboi Carti sees his sophomore album, 💿 Whole Lotta Red, slip from no. 1 to no.

Billboard Hot 100 📉 

💭 Guess who remains no. 1 on the Hot 100? That would be 🎵 “Mood” by 🎙 24kGoldn and 🎙 iann dior. Enough said.

💭 🎙 Justin Bieber debuts at no. 6 on the Hot 100 with his latest single, 🎵 “Anyone”.

💭 Sure, they get lots of grief, but 🎙 AJR ascend into the top 10 (no. 11 to no. 9) with their hit single, “Bang!”.
