Tauren Wells, Up | Music Lifts

In the 52^nd edition of Music Lifts (2023), we’re uplifted by Christian pop artist, Tauren Wells performing, “Up.”

Welcome to Music Lifts , a column that seeks to highlight songs that encourage, inspire, and uplift the spirit; songs that exude fortitude, positivity, and resolve, even in the face of adversity.  Featured songs aren’t genre-specific; songs may or may not be faith-based. The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights!  So, for the 52^nd edition of Music Lifts (2023), we highlight “Up” as performed by Tauren Wells.

“If you’re having a hard day / Ain’t no way you’re giving up, up, up, up, up / If you’re dealing with heartbreak / Ain’t no way you’re giving up, up, up, up, up.” That’s right – there will be no giving up and no quitting! Tauren Wells delivers a surefire, uplifting anthem for those going through hard times: “Up”!!! He continues singing in the chorus, “Keep your head high, keep on fighting / ‘Cause the pressure makes a diamond / Tomorrow’s a new day, yeah / Ain’t no way you’re giving up, up, up, up, up.” “Up” graces his 2022 album, Joy in the Morning. He wrote his anthem alongside Michael Matosic and Jamie Moore.  Produced by Jordan Sapp, Tedd T, and Mitchell Solarek, notably this fresh joint samples the lit ️ Hulvey joint, “Can’t Tell It All”.

Throughout the course of this R&B/pop-infused Christian/contemporary gospel cut, Wells offers of various scenarios, all of which are relatable.  He references the hard work happening worldwide, from the high-powered jobs (Wall Street) to the most humble (small town barbershops), as well as common hardships: “Crying tears like a river runs / No umbrella and you’re caught in the rain,” and later, “Another doomsday news cycle.” The point is, when things seem at that all-time low, don’t give up or give in! Know that a win, a victory, is on the way – you’ve got next! Don’t wallow in the pain and let it encapsulate you but instead, speak progress and believe He’s – God’s – got you, even when times are darkest, and things appear to be their bleakest.  “Up” is just what the doctor ordered!
