anaka Makoni is back with her latest release, “The Streets”. It is a track about the singer’s relationship to her hometown, London, and she speaks candidly about growing up in the capital.

“The Streets” is empowering from the get-go, and Tanaka hits the sweet spot instantly. Furthermore, her vocals radiate like glowing beams, and she sings with an angelic tone which has tangible qualities. Also, she picks up where she left off with her previous single  “Lust”  also sending a shockwave across the hip hop space.

It all gets underway with a peaceful overture which boasts tranquil qualities. Moreover, the beat grips us like a bikers mitt, and the sounds leap out with fearless essence. For me, I enjoy how the structure stays well away from the status quo, and although the mix is relatively condensed throughout, the energy still flows for the entirety.

Overall, “The Streets”  is an honest track, and I can easily fit into the singer’s shoes with her singing a genuine message. However, I would enjoy a little more change in regards to the arrangement with the repetitive hooks becoming a little too much. Also, it is not the first time a hip hop starlet has opened up about their beginnings; therefore, maybe the storyline could be a little generic? Possibly, but its heartfelt and it is refreshing to hear the artist let the cat out of the bag.

So what is next for Tanaka? Hopefully more gems like this one. Also, with a successful year for the singer almost complete, I am sure 2021 will be even more victorious!
