talker, Intimidated [Photo Credit: talker]Rising Los Angeles grunge-pop artist talker (Celeste Tauchar) drops a sick music video to her marvelous 2018 acoustic single, “Intimidated.”

If you haven’t had the pleasure of hearing rising ‘grunge-pop’ artist talker (Celeste Tauchar), then you are totally missing out.  Tauchar, born in Germany, but raised in Sacramento, California and now based in Los Angeles, is part of a ‘new breed’ of artists fusing multiple music genres together creatively. For Tauchar, her influences include the 90s grunge scene (Nirvana and Soundgarden), as well as alternative pop (Banks and Vérité). In November 2018, she turned heads with her acoustic single, “Intimidated.”  Now, in 2019, she’s back with an accompanying visual.

Talker @ Winston House Show [Photo Credit: Tom Bender]Revisiting (or introducing to some) “Intimidated,” it was an impressive record in its own right preceding the arrival of the visual.  First and foremost, Talker has a truly compelling and expressive voice.  That voice sounds truly superb on this particular song in all regards.  For the majority of the “Intimidated,” she exhibits control – incredible poise.  By the end, she shows off her roaring ‘grunge’ side, ascending into her commanding, powerful upper register.  Besides her electrifying performance, the songwriting is spot-on, particularly the memorable chorus.

The visual for “Intimidated” is as impressive as the record itself – simply stunning.  What makes the music video such an accomplishment? Perhaps it’s the purple lighting as talker is in the room with her significant other, contrasting the moments when she’s merely singing in the scenic outdoors, strumming her acoustic guitar.  Or perhaps it’s the skill of the cameraman as he delivers absolutely remarkable close-ups of her as her emotions unfurl.  Without a doubt, the best moments of the visual occurs towards the end, when both the vocals percolate to a fever pitch, and the emotions show through her facial expression and overall acting.

Final Thoughts

So, to recap, you should totally check out talker if you haven’t already.  She brings plenty to the table in regard to musicianship.  Specific to “Intimidated,” make sure you check out the accompanying visual – it only enhances the excellence of the single itself.
