Halifax-based singer/songwriter artist T. Thomason brings the heat on his catchy, memorable second solo single of 2024, “Fantasy.”
“Babe, you got it / Hand in my pocket / Babe, if you want it just say.” Ooh-wee! You heard T. Thomason – just say it! That is one of the most memorable lyrics from “Fantasy”. Thomason delivers a surefire bop with his second solo single of 2024. The Halifax-based musician penned “Fantasy” with Jesse Northey, Thom D’Arcy, and Melody McKiver. Thomson produced with Joel Waddell and Kennen. That production work is sleek and utterly sickening. “Fantasy” benefits from a stellar groove (Max Trefler), colorful synths (Waddell), harp (Ellen Gibling), and robust bass (Alex St. Kitts).
Backed by a fabulous instrumental, T. Thomason ‘puts in work’ too. The vocals are GIVING, PERIOD. His pipes sound enthusiastic. He’s expressive and nuanced in his performance. It’s easy to buy what he’s selling. Upping the ante are catchy melodies and memorable lyrics. “Do you wanna take me home, wanna take off all my clothes?” Thomason asks in the first verse, continuing, “Or are you chasing for chasing’s sake?” Legit questions. The second verse is colorful too: “For worse or for better wanna lay you out in leather / I wanna take you home and try on all your clothes.” Ooh-la-la! The section to beat, besides the ‘post-chorus/refrain’ is the chorus:
“You want me like a fantasy, teenage dream
Picking up your energy, looking at me like I’m a masterpiece
A fantasy, teenage dream,
Giving me your energy, looking at me like.”
All told, T. Thomason electrifies on “Fantasy”. Great vocals, memorable lyrics, tuneful melodies, and sound production make this a winner. This marked T. Thomason’s first appears on The Musical Hype but it won’t be his last.
