Superfruit, Future Friends © RCASuperfruit returns with “Hurry Up!”, the energetic, fun, slick modern pop promo single for full-length album, ‘Future Friends.’

With Pentatonix on a hiatus, Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying released Future Friends – Part One as duo Superfruit at the end of June.  Superfruit returns with full-length album Future Friends (September 15), which features Part One and the newly-released Future Friends – Part Two EP.  With the seven songs of Future Friends – Part One readily available, Mitch and Scott dropped promo single “Hurry Up!” to promote the full project.

There’s plenty to like about “Hurry Up!” The best feature is…the production.  This is a thoroughly modern backdrop, incorporating the best of electronic, pop, and urban music.  This provides fuel for the fire for Superfruit.  For those disappointed this was the first pro, obviously, Mitch and Scott shine vocally.  That goes without saying.  Both these dudes have terrific voices, which they showcase on “Hurry Up!” Another pro? The song itself.  It’s fun and easy on the ears.  Superfruit keep things short and sweet, as “Hurry Up!” lasts a suitable three-and-a-half minutes. Like their previously issued music, the chorus shines.

Cons? The obvious thing is that it’s still an adjustment hearing only Mitch and Scott together.  This sort of puts lead duties on Mitch, given the tone and high-pitched nature of his voice.  That’s not bad in the least – boy can sing his butt off – but, sometimes, Scott plays more of a supportive role than he should.  That said, that’s nitpicking. To their credit, Scott has more relevance on “Hurry Up!” compared to some of Future Friends – Part One.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Hurry Up!” is an enjoyable, well-rounded single from Superfruit.  No luster is lost from the material featured on Future Friends – Part One, as “Hurry Up!” matches the quality.  Is this the ‘song of the year?’ No, but it’s a fun, pleasant listen.
