“What can I say? / You’ll always get your way with me.” You heard it directly from the mouth of Still Woozy (Sven Gamsky), folks.  The do-it-all musician/producer continues singing, delightfully in the chorus of “Shotput”, “She’s barely five foot, you hit like a shot put / And you got me.” Self-explanatory. The chorus appears at the top of “Shotput,” following the establishment of six grooves courtesy of the drums and guitar (performed by Gamsky).  That said, the chorus truly takes flight following the first verse, with more context given within the song.

He also drops an f-bomb – always lyrical seasoning! “Can’t keep a straight face, that’s not how I was made / I know you are a saint, so fuck with this charade.” With the return of the chorus, one appreciates Gamsky’s falsetto and tender vocals. A post-chorus follows, and boy, oh boy, do things “feel right,” or so he sings! The second verse is less rhythmic than the first – less wordy. Still, he says some ‘thangs’: “Well, I wasn’t holding out, hold for me / Already making up my mind that I’d be lonely.” With no chorus following, Sven delivers a bridge, distinguishing itself from other sections (“My heart / Oh, my heart is stone / Melting / Just like honeycomb”). Rather than return to the chorus, he follows the bridge with the post-chorus, and concludes with an outro (“In the dead of the night”). All told, “Shotput” is an ear catching number by Still Woozy – entertaining and unique.
