Prepare to beam with P-R-I-D-E! Beaming with Pride celebrates, embraces, and spotlights songs by LGBTQ musicians or allies.  Here, we provide background and insight into musicians, analyze, plus go gaga over the decadent bops served up.  When songs dictate deeper and more transcendent discussion, we ensure the point is fully articulated.  All styles of music are welcome, whether the songs are classics or brand-new. So, without further ado, in the 90th edition of Beaming with Pride (2025), we highlight “Your Dad” performed by Stella Novella.

“I’m tired of drag (uh) / I’m tired of cunt (what) / I’m tired of work (so tired) / I know what I want.”
D-d-damn, Stella Novella (Charlie Fish)! What do you want, Stella? Fun, and… “Your Dad”.  Specifically, our drag queen extraordinaire asserts, “I just wanna fuck your dad.” Woo! The Dominican American drag queen doesn’t fuck around on “Your Dad.” Well, technically, they do: “I just wanna fuck your dad / Fuck your son / Fuck your man / Fuck everyone.” Oop! Fish penned “Your Dad” with producer Keenan Copas.

The sound provides Stella Novella quite a lift.  The production is sleek with incredible synths and a banging beat.  Later, there are some gorgeous, dizzying synths and warm piano chords that provide contrast.  “Your Dad” is set in a minor key, and much of the song finds Stella performing with playful, unapologetic, and talk-sung vocals.  How does Stella describe your dad, exactly? “Your daddy is fit / His wallet is thick / I make him cum quick,” they rap in the second verse.  Stella continues, “Your son is obsessed / He says I’m the best / When I leave him, I leave him depressed (Sorry, Kevin, I have to bounce).” And again, I oop! I mean, Stella did state, they fuck everyone…  There is a change of pace before the two-minute mark, signally the bridge. Here, Ms. Norvella gives us more pitched, warm vocals. “Take off my wig, dress, lashes, and heels / How does it feel? Tell me how do I feel?” they assert, and add, “I’m dressed and ready for you / By the end of the song, you’ll be bouncing all night long.” Ooh, bouncing, huh? Gah-day-um Stella! “Your Dad” does a fine job of keeping the listener on their toes with timbral contrasts, reincorporating previous sections, and with Stella Norvella exhibiting plenty of personality. Bold, “Your Dad” is a surefire vibe – the cat’s meow! And, honestly, can we blame Stella for wanting to do Daddy?
