Sorry Not Sorry: 3BOPS No. 26 (2021) [📷: Brent Faulkner, Lad Fury, The Musical Hype, Pexels]On the 26th edition of 3BOPS (2021), we select three awesome songs that are associated with the phrase Sorry Not Sorry.

On 3BOPS, we are totally dedicated to keeping things L-I-T-E! Similar to 5ive Songs, there’s a topic and a short blurb, only with THREE songs instead of FIVE.  Yes, it’s a playlist, but it’s a miniature playlist that shouldn’t take much time to consume.  On the 26th edition of 3BOPS (2021), we select three awesome songs that are associated with the phrase Sorry Not Sorry.

1. DJ Khaled, “Sorry Not Sorry”

Ft. Nas, Jay-Z, James Fauntleroy & Harmonies by the Hive

💿 KHALED KHALED • 🏷 We The Best / Epic • 📅 2021

DJ Khaled, KHALED KHALED [📷: We The Best / Epic]🎵 “Sorry Not Sorry” is a truly intriguing DJ Khaled record.  This highlight from the Grammy winner’s 2021 album, 💿 KHALED KHALED,  brings two rap legends together: 🎙 Nas and 🎙 Jay-Z.  Getting both on the same song – a rarity – is huge. Further upping the ante is the underrated 🎙 James Fauntleroy providing some sweet vocals.  Are those sweet vocals over processed? You bet and needlessly – just let James sang!  Also, worth noting, is a guest spot by 🎙 Harmonies by the Hive aka 🎙 Beyoncé.

Clearly the most hyped song with the arrival of KHALED KHALED, it’s definitely a must-hear.  If Khaled did nothing else but reunite Jay-Z and Nas after more than a decade on the same track, that was enough.  Of course, both serve up some interesting lines whether it’s “I’m coin-based, basically cryptocurrency Scarface” (Nas) or “Nah, that’s a triple B, can’t forget ‘bout the other Bey (Jay-Z).  Give 🎛 STREETRUNNER, 🎛 Tarik Azzouz and of course the DJ himself credit for the production.

2. Demi Lovato, “Sorry Not Sorry”

💿Tell Me You Love Me • 🏷 Hollywood / Island • 📅 2017

Demi Lovato, Tell Me You Love Me [📷: Island / Hollywood]“Payback is a bad bitch.” Clearly, 🎙 Demi Lovato drops a sarcastic oops regarding her unapologetic feelings on the feisty, soulful “Sorry Not Sorry”.  “Sorry Not Sorry” opens her 2017 album, 💿Tell Me You Love Me, with a serious bang. It was one of the best songs of 2017, hands down.

This slick, R&B-infused-pop joint was penned by a team comprised of Lovato, 🎼✍ Sean Douglas, 🎼✍ Trevor Brown, 🎼✍ Warren Felder and 🎼✍ William Zaire Simmons. Warren “Oak” Felder produces the record, which features pitch-shifted vocals, gang vocals, hard anchoring drums, soulful, gospel-tinged piano, and synths. Lovato shows off her chops throughout, soaring to the highest of heights.’ Her best moments come on the chorus, where she’s supported by backing vocals.

“Baby, I’m sorry (I'm not sorry)
Baby, I’m sorry (I'm not sorry)
Bein’ so bad got me feelin’ so good
Showin’ you up like I knew that I would.”

3. Bryson Tiller, “Sorry Not Sorry”

💿T R A P S O U L • 📅 2015

Bryson Tiller, TRAPSOUL [📷: Bryson Tiller]“Got money, now you done switched up on me.” Uh-oh! On 🎵 “Sorry Not Sorry”, one of the better songs from 💿 T R A P S O U L, 🎙 Bryson Tiller will NOT date a gold digger, period. These women looking for a handout from the Louisville-bred rapper/singer need not bother.  On the chorus, he makes it clear that she – whoever she is – won’t be getting his heart or money.

“Girl, if you don’t get the fuck from me
I know you thought we had somethin’ special
But you don’t mean nothin’ to me
Girl, I’m sorry, you not the one for me.”

Of course, Tiller doesn’t merely stop there later asserting that “Every bitch with a hidden agenda run up (Cause I’m on, nigga).”  It’s both cocky and confident on his part, but it’s a known fact what happens to people when they experience a come-up like Tiller did when T R A P S O U L made him a big-time star.  Worth noting, beyond the theme and lyrics, regarding the sound, “Sorry Not Sorry” features a few samples, making its distinct production come together.
