~ Song Reviews 🎵 ~

Ah, welcome to the page that is dedicated solely to Single & Track reviews. Singles and tracks of various styles are evaluated in this section of The Musical Hype – We don’t discriminate. Track reviews are also available on the home page.

More often than not, the single reviews on the site tend to follow a format that includes an intro paragraph with background information, a body, comprised of 1-2 paragraphs of analysis, and a concluding paragraph that ‘puts a cap’ on things. Each track also receives a star rating, on a scale of 0 – 5 (½ stars are used as well), that is visible at the beginning and ending of the review.

5 out of 5 stars = MASTERPIECE

4.5 out of 5 stars = NEAR MASTERPIECE

4 out of 5 stars = EXCELLENT

3.5 out of 5 stars = VERY GOOD

3 out of 5 stars = AVERAGE / GOOD

2.5 out of 5 stars = BELOW AVERAGE

2 out of 5 stars = MEDIOCRE

1.5 out of 5 stars, 1 out of 5 stars, 0.5 out of 5 stars, 0 out of 5 stars = BAD

Track reviews generally run a minimum of 250 words with many running north of 300 words. So, music enthusiasts everywhere – Musical Hypeians worldwide – get your fix of single & track reviews down below!!!

The Musical Hype

Jack Harlow, ‘Sundown’ | Track Review

There’s a hot, rising rapper from Kentucky and his name is Jack Harlow. He may not look the part of a rapper, but he proves he’s ‘got bars’ on “Sundown.”

Miguel, ‘Python’ | Track Review

Despite being chocked-full of potential, uneven production lacking in finesse inhibits Miguel on his slithery new single, “Python.”

Ella Mai, ‘Trip’ | Track Review

Rising urban contemporary artist Ella Mai follows up her brilliant, breakout single “Boo’d Up” with another surefire bop, “Trip.” Upward trajectory indeed.

ZAYN, ‘Too Much’ | Track Review

Standout British urban-pop singer ZAYN enlists four-time Grammy-winning rapper/producer Timbaland for his fourth single of 2018, “Too Much.”

LX Mason, ‘I Don’t’ | Track Review

LX Mason dazzles on his debut single, “I Don’t,” a song that eschews being “oppressed by other’s opinions” or by “personal anxieties and fears.”

Blood Orange, ‘Jewelry’ | Track Review

Blood Orange (Dev Hynes), shines bright on “Jewelry,” the second advance single from his highly-anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Negro Swan.’

AGNEZ MO, ‘Overdose’ | Track Review

Indonesian singer AGNEZ MO taps Grammy-winning American R&B singer Chris Brown for a truly enjoyable, sexy duet, “Overdose.”

Tyga, ‘SWISH’ | Track Review

Tyga, celebrating a return to pop relevancy, drops a sexed-up, skeletal, ‘strip club anthem’, “SWISH.” “SWISH” samples the David Banner hit, “Play.”

Benjamin Ingrosso, ‘I Wouldn’t Know’ | Track Review

Swedish pop singer/songwriter Benjamin Ingrosso shines on “I Wouldn’t Know,” where he’s totally fed up with a ‘one-sided relationship.’

Elley Duhé, WAY DOWN LOW | Track Review 🎵

Pop singer Elley Duhé shows on enjoyable single “WAY DOWN LOW” that she’s willing to do whatever to conquer love, even in the worst of times.
