~ Song Reviews 🎵 ~

Ah, welcome to the page that is dedicated solely to Single & Track reviews. Singles and tracks of various styles are evaluated in this section of The Musical Hype – We don’t discriminate. Track reviews are also available on the home page.

More often than not, the single reviews on the site tend to follow a format that includes an intro paragraph with background information, a body, comprised of 1-2 paragraphs of analysis, and a concluding paragraph that ‘puts a cap’ on things. Each track also receives a star rating, on a scale of 0 – 5 (½ stars are used as well), that is visible at the beginning and ending of the review.

5 out of 5 stars = MASTERPIECE

4.5 out of 5 stars = NEAR MASTERPIECE

4 out of 5 stars = EXCELLENT

3.5 out of 5 stars = VERY GOOD

3 out of 5 stars = AVERAGE / GOOD

2.5 out of 5 stars = BELOW AVERAGE

2 out of 5 stars = MEDIOCRE

1.5 out of 5 stars, 1 out of 5 stars, 0.5 out of 5 stars, 0 out of 5 stars = BAD

Track reviews generally run a minimum of 250 words with many running north of 300 words. So, music enthusiasts everywhere – Musical Hypeians worldwide – get your fix of single & track reviews down below!!!

Rita Ora, ‘Let You Love Me’ | Track Review

In advance of her sophomore album, ‘Phoenix,’ Rita Ora drops an enjoyable, if only quasi-memorable single, “Let You Love Me.”

Tyler, the Creator, ‘Peach Fuzz’ | Track Review

Although “Peach Fuzz” is short in length in a number of ways, Tyler, the Creator continues to serve up some worthwhile bars.

Lil Uzi Vert, ‘New Patek’ | Track Review

Lil Uzi Vert shows promise on his ultra-lux single “New Patek.” Still, it has its flaws, including a long run time, misogynistic overkill, and rap clichés.

The Chainsmokers, ‘This Feeling’ | Track Review

The Chainsmokers tap an unlikely collaborator in country artist Kelsea Ballerini for their single, “This Feeling.” The results are a pleasant surprise.

Lana Del Rey, Venice Bitch | Track Review

Lana Del Rey gives listeners a serious ‘vibe’ with her second new single of 2018, “Venice Bitch.” As colorful as it is, the 10-min duration is a bit much.

Lil Peep & XXXTENTACION, ‘Falling Down’ | Track Review

While “Falling Down” does an excellent job of reminiscing back to the strengths of the late Lil Peep and XXXTENTACION, it lacks in both depth and structure.

Swizz Beatz, ‘Pistol on My Side’ | Track Review

Rap super producer Swizz Beatz enlists Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne for “Pistol on My Side,” the promo single for his upcoming album, ‘Poison.’

ODESZA, ‘Loyal’ | Track Review

Featuring very few words, electronic music production duo ODESZA lets he grand instrumentals do the work on “Loyal,” their first new single of 2018.

The 1975, ‘Sincerity is Scary’ | Track Review

After releasing many sketchy singles in advance of ‘A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships’, The 1975 improve on 4th single, “Sincerity is Scary.”

Lil Baby & Gunna, ‘Drip Too Hard’ | Track Review

Rappers Lil Baby and Gunna combine for the brief, but utterly forgettable, ‘been there, done that’, flex banger, “Drip Too Hard.”
