Sofi Tukker, "Fuck They" [Photo Credit: Ultra]Grammy-nominated Dance duo Sofi Tukker are charged up on their explicit new single, “Fuck They.” Sophie and Tucker don’t care about ‘they.’

There’s something about seeing the f-word in a song title that never fails to pique one’s interest.  The latest use of fornication under consent of the king comes by way of dance duo Sofi Tukker. Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern may not be household names, but earning a Grammy nomination means they’re no slouch.  If they do nothing more, they compel on the explicitly fun single, “Fuck They.”

Sofi Tukker don’t hold back.  They drop the bomb at the onset: “I don’t give a fuck about they.” After the detonation, a sick, danceable beat anchors the feisty joint.  Sophie Hawley-Weld offers up cool vocals that eschew histrionics, but still packs a punch.  One of the pros of her performance is her upper register, which helps to amplify the energy.  Also, it doesn’t hurt she’s the one dropping those bombs left and right.

Tucker gets into the action as well. Eventually, “Fuck They” employs some good ole call and response.  As Sophie continues to emphasize she “don’t give a fuck about they,” Tucker adds, “Who’s they,” “They don’t even give a fuck,” and “Who’s they anyway.” The contrast of the vocals is a selling point.  It’s simple – high (Sophie) and low (Tucker).  Simple it may be, but effective by all means.

Final Thoughts

So, what more can you say about a song built on the f-bomb? There’s lots actually, but keeping it short and sweet, “Fuck They” is a blast – an effing blast if you will! It’s naughty, unapologetic, and groovy.  The production work is rock solid, ready-made for EDM kids everywhere.  Honestly, doesn’t this little gem capture the attitude that everybody seems to have these days?
