Sofi Tukker, Energia © UltraDance Duo Sofi Tukker continue their ‘flex-fest’ with their latest single “Energia,” a clear contrast to previous jams “F*ck They” and “Best Friend.”

Sofi Tukker (Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern) came out swinging the last we heard from them.  The middle fingers were up as the Grammy-nominated duo captivated, and took down the haters on “F*ck They.”  After getting the bombs out of their system, they came back friendlier to say the least with “Best Friend.” Back once more, they drop “Energia.”

“Energia” is completely sung in Portuguese – clearly a departure from “F*ck They” or “Best Friend.” Unexpected, this certainly keeps things fresh and compelling for Sofi Tukker. Fittingly, the vibe of the track is Latin throughout its course.  That said, there’s still plenty of electronic, dance cues, anchored by a Latin-infused dance beat (incorporates Bossa Nova). Reiterating the aforementioned, “Energia” is a clear-cut contrast to the duo’s previous two singles.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Sofi Tukker continue to impress with their new songs. “Energia” gives the duo another danceable, highly enjoyable song to say the least.  Perhaps “Energia” doesn’t trump the explicit, tone-setting “F*ck They” or the infectious “Best Friend,” but it’s another, welcome addition to their catalogue.  The energy is high!
