Smokepurpp, Lost Planet 2.0 [Photo Credits: Alamo / Interscope]Smokepurpp continues his overconfident, shallow ways on the brief, trap banger, “Walk on Water,” which appears as the ninth track from Lost Planet 2.0.

“Bitch, I’m the GOAT, feel like I walk on water / I’m sucking your bitch titty like I’m a toddler.” Wow… just WOW.  Honestly, the lyrics are not that surprising considering the source, trap- / SoundCloud rapper Smokepurpp. Has ‘Purpp ever been associated with profundity or transcendence in regard to the themes covered in his music or his lyrics? That’s a big, fat, resounding NO.  That said, where some of his music is basic to an unbearable degree, “Walk on Water” is a respectable, re-playable banger appearing on his 23-minute album Lost Planet 2.0.

The aforementioned chorus continues with plenty of cockiness and self-assuredness.  What may be most intriguing is how Smokepurpp continues to play up the ‘baby’ persona: “I do what I want, I ride out like a toddler / Call up the Gerbers, I need me a sponsor.” Hmm… Beyond the chorus, there is only one verse and Purpp makes the most of it, riding the malicious, hard-nosed backdrop like a champ.  He covers drugs (“Mixing the Percocet with the codeine”), drink (“I sip the Wock, I don’t fuck with Corona”), guns (“I got a Glock ‘fore I got a diploma), and of course, his multitude of ‘bitches,’ sigh (“I bought a watch, and the bitch came with it”).

Final Thoughts

If you’re not into utter shallowness or stupidity, well, don’t waste your time on “Walk on Water” by Smokepurpp – you’ll feel empty AF.  But, if you don’t mind the occasional dumb, totally overconfident banger, well, “Walk on Water” just might tickle your fancy.  What should be noted is the fact that this is temporary satisfaction. If you think that ‘Purpp’s ‘walk on water’ can touch that timeless happening by Jesus, well, you’d be totally mistaken.  We won’t be talking about this one for very long, especially clocking in at under two minutes.
