Shirley Caesar, All of the Glory | Track Review

Well into her eighties, the legendary Shirley Caesar continues to minister through her music with the uplifting gospel single, “All of the Glory.”

Personally, I am impressed with singers, who have nothing left to prove, that continue performing and recording in their advanced age. Shirley Caesar is a gospel music legend, PERIOD. At 84 years young, the Pentecostal pastor/recording artist continues her music ministry with the inspiring single, “All of the Glory”.  Perhaps those high notes don’t pop the way they once did, but don’t get it twisted – the pastor has STILL GOT IT.  That tone and power are still full force.  Furthermore, the messaging – praising a merciful God – is potent .

“All of the Glory” doesn’t reinvent the gospel music wheel.  That is no knock because guess what? IT DOESN’T NEED TO REINVENT THE WHEEL. Sometimes, it merely takes a solid song to get the job done. “All of the Glory” is just that – a solid, thoughtful, well-rounded gospel track. The message speaks for itself, hence, no serious innovation is necessary – it stands on its own. Caesar carries the lead well, getting plenty of support from the uplifting choir.  Together, they lift the spirit, speaking peace upon multitudes.  To say “All of the Glory” will change lives might be an overstatement. However, to say that this terrific gospel record by a legendary singer can’t change lives would be selling it way short.  Perhaps the words of this spirited joint will indeed change lives, leading souls to – you guessed it – ALMIGHTY GOD .
