Shinedown, Attention Attention © AtlanticFloridian hard rock band Shinedown brings utter angst, fire, and grit on “Devil,” the hellish promo single for their sixth studio album, ‘Attention Attention.’

Cutting right to the chase, “Devil” is an incredibly devilishhellish offering from longtime Floridian hard rock band, Shinedown.  The Mephistophelean impact of the record rightfully earned it a spot on the playlist, These 15 Songs Have the Devil in Mind, sigh.  With the damnation being real to the nth degree, “Devil” serves as the promo single for the band’s sixth studio album, Attention Attention.

“Devil” captures the Hadean with its minor key scheme. From the jump, the music hits you right in the chest.  It’s NOT for the ‘faint of heart.’ The guitars are incredibly heavy, while the drums pummel, as if a stake is being driven into the ground – or someone’s being stabbed.  Frontman Brent Smith is filled with angst, fire, and the utmost grit.  He doesn’t hold back in the least, depicting the heaviness on the record’s centerpiece, the chorus.

“‘Cause it’s about to get heavy (Heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy)
It’s about to be on (Heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy)
Yeah, I’m bangin’ slingin’ napalm (Heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy)
So nobody move
‘Cause I was sent to warn you
The devil’s in the next room.”

Final Thoughts

If you were ever in need of a musical depiction of hell, Shinedown serves it up on “Devil.” It’s heavenly, in the most hellish sinful, and twisted way possible.  Running out of adjectives here for this damned track.
