Scanning the Charts β Billboard 200 & Hot 100 (12/19/20): Shawn Mendes earns his fourth no. 1 album on the Billboard 200.
SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week (Bad Bunny Earns First No. 1), this column wonβt be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that moving. This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations
from the Billboard 200
, and THREE observations
from the Billboard Hot 100
, with
Shawn Mendes earning his fourth no. 1 album with
Wonder.
Billboard 200
Shawn Mendes earns his fourth no. 1 album with
Wonder. While Wonder didnβt have much competition this week β the no. 2 album was a distant second β the numbers werenβt exactly earth shattering, at 89,000 units.
After earning a historic no. 1 album last week,
Bad Bunny sees
El Ultimo Tour del Mundo slip just one spot to no. 2.
Aside from Mendesβ Wonder, the top 40 lacks brand-new album. The only other debut arrives courtesy of
The White Stripes with
The White Stripes Greatest Hits at no. 33.
Beyond the top 40, the debuts are scant as well. Rapper
YFN Lucci lands at no. 49 with
Wish Me Well 3.
TWICE bows at no. 72 with
Eyes Wide Open: The 2nd Full Album. YUNGBLUD launches at a tepid no. 75 with
Weird!.
Mariah Carey charts another Christmas album with
Mariah Careyβs Magical Christmas Special, which debuts at no. 100.
Billboard Hot 100
After ascending from no. 14 to no. 2 last week,
Mariah Carey returns to no. 1 with her iconic Christmas gem,
βAll I Want for Christmas is You.β Also, worth noting, the new version of βOh Santa!β (featuring
Ariana Grande and
Jennifer Hudson) launches at no. 76.
With much of the Hot 100 dominated by holiday singles,
Lil Baby secures two spots in the top half of the chart with
βOn Meβ (no. 30) and
βErrbodyβ (no. 41).
The Kid LAROI debuts at no. 63 with βWithout You,β which appears as the seventh track on the expanded version of
F*CK LOVE.
