Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello, "Señorita" [Photo Credit: Island]Grammy-nominated pop standouts Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello bring the summertime vibes with the Latin-tinged, sexy single, “Señorita.”

“I love it when you call me señorita / I wish I could pretend I didn’t need ya / But every touch is ooh-la-la-la / It’s true, la-la-la / Ooh, I should be runnin’…” The last time that Grammy-nominated pop musicians Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello joined forces was back in 2015. That’s when they released the single, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” which ultimately ended up on Mendes’ debut album, Handwritten.  Now, “Reunited, and it feels so good,” the two respective hotties heat up the summer with “Señorita.”

“Señorita” has ample pros that make it a roaring success.  Camila Cabello shows off her upper register, something that made hit single “Never Be the Same” a surefire winner.  As always, Shawn Mendes compels with his beautiful vocal tone, one of the best in the game in my opinion.  He ups the ante even more when he breaks into vocal harmonies.  This being a duet, chemistry is incredibly important between both vocalist and sure enough, they mesh well, most notably on the sexy, incredibly catchy chorus, excerpted above. Also, worth noting, is the memorable melody on the verses, in addition to the centerpiece chorus, and well-rounded production (watt, benny blanco, and Cashmere Cat) that blends Latin cues/sensibilities and pop music superbly.

Final Thoughts

As aforementioned, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello do indeed ‘heat up summer’ with “Señorita.”  “Señorita” is a triumph thanks to great vocals and vocal chemistry, catchy songwriting, and solid production.  The pros far outweigh the cons with the only con being more subjective – this song really required a team of eight songwriters? All in all, another win for the dynamic duo of Mendes-Cabello.
