Rising Aussie artist Sembari, assisted by London-based singer Hyara, drops an intriguing second track from his forthcoming EP, “Not Coming Home.”
Are you in need of an awesome electronic music artist or project in your life? Well friends, look no further than rising Australian producer Sembari. Born in 2017 (the project, not Dylan Maddison, the brainchild behind Sembari), his influences hail from electronic music royalty including Grammy-winner Flume, Grammy-nominated duo ODESZA, and last but not least, Louis the Child. Considering the influences, not to mention the degree of musicianship in general, Sembari has a great thing going for him. After wowing The Musical Hype with “Escape”, alongside Afterglo, he impresses once again with “Not Coming Home,” featuring London-based vocalist, Hyara.
The biggest selling point of “Not Coming Home” is the overall sound, period. Give Maddison props – he does work on the production end of things. Despite being set in a minor key, Sembari ‘brightens the darkness’ using warmer synths and pads. The synths are rhythmic as well, giving “Not Coming Home” some driving energy. After hearing a couple of songs by this Aussie standout, it’s clear that not only does he love rhythm, but he also has a knack for it. Meanwhile, Hyara complements the production work superbly, with her cool, but nuanced, passionate vocals. She adds the cherry on top of this brief, but well-rounded record.
Final Thoughts
All in all, Sembari, assisted by Hyara, has a winning record on his hands with “Not Coming Home.” What makes it so great in summation? Production (especially rhythmic synths), vibe (a must), and a strong vocal performance from Hyara. What more could you ask for from electronic joint?
