Selena Gomez & benny blanco, Scared Of Loving You | Song Review

Engaged power couple Selena Gomez and benny blanco unveil their short but sweet first single from their LP, I Said I Love You First, “Scared of Loving You.”

“Would you take my side? Would you hold my hand? / If they sell a lie, don’t let ‘em send me back.” In case you didn’t know, Selena Gomez and benny blanco are an item.  More specifically, they’re engaged. Also, the actress/singer, and the producer/songwriter are releasing an album, I Said I Love You First. Aww! The sub-two-minute “Scared Of Loving You” marks the first single, and 14^th and final track from the album. “‘Cause I’m not scared of lovin’ you / I’m just scared of losin’ you,” Gomez sings in the chorus, the section to beat. Beyond the chorus, “Scared Of Loving You” thrives off its thoughtful love-driven lyrics. “When I was young, I would love too fast,” Selena sings in the first verse, concluding, “Hope I don’t repeat my past.” Word.  “Scared” benefits from its nice, memorable melody.  The production by Blanco alongside FINNEAS is a major selling point. Musical sounds include guitars, keyboards, and strings.  Also, can’t neglect to mention the sweet background vocals (Lucy Healey and FINNEAS). Although it is relatively simple and definitely short, “Scared of Loving You” is pleasant and comes from the heart. Gomez, often criticized for her vocals, sounds great here.
