Well, it is steaming hot 🥵 at midnight when it comes to this naughty, innuendo, and sex-laden column featuring songs intended for nighttime. We are talking about that after-dark type $hi†, ya dig? These risqué, unapologetic records often raise eyebrows and temperature alike. In the 62^nd edition of Midnight Heat (2024), we explore the naughty, sexy vibes behind, “Slut Era Interlude” by ROLE MODEL.

“I don’t want you, but I want you to / Spend the night.” This is giving one-night stand. ROLE MODEL (Tucker Pillsbury) adds, “I don’t like you, but I’d like you to / Spend the night.” Can you say, NSA? “Slut Era Interlude” is the 9^th track on Kansas Anymore, the sophomore album by ROLE MODEL. If you are familiar with Pillsbury, you know his music is honest to the nth degree. Not everybody can successfully release a colorful, eyebrow-raising song like “Masturbation Song” 👀 (“I touch myself / More than I should be / I think of you / Is that a good thing?”). Pillsbury penned this slutty track alongside Jason Vance Harris.  Harris and Noah Conrad produce. Although brief at just over two minutes, and labeled as an interlude, “Slut Era Interlude” features two verses.  Pillsbury successfully conveys his points despite the brief runtime.

“They say that love comes around / I don’t see it.” Hmm, perhaps that’s the problem, ROLE MODEL! Where solo time was Pillsbury’s friend on “Masturbation Song”, he wants to do the Olivia Newton-John (RIP) and get “Physical”: “Fuck your first name, fuck your birthday / Know you’re only here to get me through this heartbreak.” Ah, his slut era has begun to cope with heartbreak – a dedicated relationship. While one’s slut era doesn’t have to be sexual, Pillsbury’s is. “Press that body on my body, go ahead, use it, girl / Take it off slow,” he sings in the second verse, continuing, “Keep the lights low / And let me call you by somebody that I used to know.”  Even though they’re doing it, it’s merely an act – it means nothing.  “Slut Era Interlude” should be relatable to many, particularly sleeping around to atone for the loss of a meaningful relationship.  What makes “Slut Era Interlude” more alluring is the guitar accompaniment and the slow, agonizing pace.
