Rod Wave keeps it real on the banger “Stone Rolling,” the third single from his fourth studio album, A Beautiful Mind.
“Uh, he’s a rolling stone, he’s a rolling stone / Long as the wind blows, I’ll be long gone… / Drive with many miles of roads and still can’t find my / My home.” Woo! Rod Wave keeps things real on
“Stone Rolling”, the third single from his fourth studio album,
A Beautiful Mind. Producing this latest melodic but hard-hitting banger is
TnTXD,
SephGotTheWaves, and
Geovocals. The biggest selling point of the backdrop is the knocking trap beat.
In “Stone Rolling,” Wave is honest and transparent about his dreams as a child, as well as his come up. Part of those dreams was the desire to travel, with Rod rapping, “Like if I make it out this shit, I’m goin’ straight to Cali.” That of course is a dream so many of us have at some point. He goes on to highlight achieving his aspirations, but at the same time, it’s not the ‘end all, be all’ – he’s still in search of home. Two lyrics that stand out in the verse are, “I just woke up on my tour bus, I don’t know where I’m headed / I been out on my own since I turned eighteen,” as well as, “Is there a heaven for a G? Where can I go to get some peace? / I wanna settle with my kids, buy a crib by the beach.”
Final Thoughts
Rod Wave does a fabulous job of being authentic and personal on his songs. After wowing with
“Cold December”,
“Stone Rolling” marks another highlight. It’s great that he’s living his dreams and is in a much better place, but, you still hopes he does find a permanent home beyond stone rolling.
