On 3BOPS, we are totally dedicated to keeping things L-I-T-E! Similar to 5ive Songs, there’s a topic and a short blurb, only with THREE songs instead of FIVE.  Yes, it’s a playlist, but it’s a miniature playlist that shouldn’t take much time to consume.  On the 47th edition of 3BOPS (2021), we select three awesome songs that are associated with RIDE in some form or fashion.

1. Doja Cat, “Ride”

💿 Planet Her (Deluxe) • 🏷 Kemosabe / RCA• 📅 2021

Doja Cat, Planet Her [📷: Kemosabe / RCA]“And baby, you wind me up, took me for a ride / And baby, you drive me up the wall down with lies.” 🎙 Doja Cat is notorious for innuendo, as well as being plumb freaky.  However, in the case of 🎵 “Ride,” which appears on the deluxe version of 💿 Planet Her, she is honest about issues within the relationship, not merely being naughty and sexual.

Doja Cat wants more from him on this patois-driven pop joint.  She feels like she cares more for him and gives more in the relationship.  “I wish you saw what I saw in you,” she sings on the first verse, later adding, “How the fuck I wasn’t on to you?” Basically, he’s taken her for a ride that’s totally toyed with her on this slickly produced bonus track.

2. Aaron Frazer, “Ride with Me”

💿 Introducing… • 🏷 Dead Oceans / Easy Eye Sound • 📅 2021

Aaron Frazer, Introducing... [📷: Dead Oceans / Easy Eye Sound]“Tell all the children / There’s a new day dawning / If you aare willing / You can hear that train a crawlin’.” SAY THAT, SAY THAT!!! 🎙 Aaron Frazer of 🎙 Durand Jones & The Indications, stepped out on his own  in 2021 releasing his debut album, 💿 Introducing…. Throughout the retro-soul LP, Frazer makes the best of a soulful backdrop and his ability to croon like an absolute boss.  With Introducing being the mark of consistency, 🎵 “Ride with Me” continues the groove-heavy, driving nature of Introducing… in all its glory.

While the potency of groove can’t be overstated, there’s still a laid-back vibe, just how Aaron likes it.  Most of all, he compels with his sweet, sweet, easygoing pipes.  “Ride with me / Come on and ride with me,” he sings on the simple, memorable chorus, continuing, “I will set you free / All you gotta do is ride with me.” Ride with him, people! Frazer wrote this four-minute gem with 🎼✍ Bobby Wood and 🎼 ✍ 🎛 Dan Auerbach who also produces.

3. Ciara, “Ride”

Ft. Ludacris

💿 Basic Instinct • 🏷 LaFace • 📅 2010

Ciara, Basic Instinct [📷 : La Face]“He love the way I ride it, He love the way I ride the beat / Like a freak, freak, freak.” Woo! It’s amazing how the word ride can be transformed into something naughty.  That’s exactly what 🏆 Grammy-winning R&B/pop artist Ciara does on 🎵 “Ride” from her 2010 album, 💿 Basic Instinct.  Solidifying the naughtiness, raunchiness, and risqué sentiment, C enlists 🎙 Ludacris for the assist (“She ride it like a roller coaster / As soon as I get her to the top, she screams”), while 🎼✍ 🎛 Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, 🎼✍ 🎛 Terius “The-Dream” Nash, and 🎼✍ 🎛 Kuk Harrell serve as writers/producers.

Ciara is NOT talking about riding in a car. If you’re that naïve, well, JESUS! C is ‘hot and bothered’ throughout the course of “Ride” and likewise, makes the boys get ‘hot and bothered’ too. I mean, when she says, “To him, I’m a gymnast,” we know the gymnastics are going down in the bedroom, right? Well, could be other places, but I digress.  This slower, sexy R&B cut runs over four-and-a-half minutes and every titillating second is worth it!
