On the 2nd edition of Sunday Refresh, we’re uplifted by Ricky Dillard performing, “The Lifter,” featuring Tamela Mann.
Welcome to Sunday Refresh 🙏, a column that seeks to highlight inspirational songs to uplift the spirit. These tracks that appear on Sunday Refresh may or may not be faith-based or religious; the goal is for them to make you feel better – refreshed. So, for the X edition of Sunday Refresh, we highlight 🎵 “The Lifter” as performed by 🏆 Grammy-nominated gospel musician 🎙 Ricky Dillard.
“I will look / To the lifter of my head / For there’s no / Other help I know.” Truthfully, “the lifter of my head” is the right place to look, better yet, seek! 🎵 “You’re the Lifter” serves as the incredible penultimate cut from 💿 Choirmaster, the 2020 gospel masterpiece by Dillard. The ‘choirmaster’ himself and his brilliant choir delivers a powerful, 10-minute, must-hear ballad (in its live edit for the album). If you need that good lift – and I’m not talking Planet Fitness, though we could all use that too – the emotional, spiritually charged “You’re the Lifter” will provide it.
“My strength comes from You Jesus, see me through For you’re the lifter Of my head.”
Adding to the grand experience, 🏆 Grammy-winning gospel sensation 🎙 Tamela Mann provides a serious ‘lift’ towards the end of this 10-minute gem. That voice is definitely a godsend – a vessel to deliver inspiration to the nth degree! That said, even before Mann blesses us, 🎙 April Hall sets the church on fire – in the most heavenly, spirited way possible! Those riffs and runs are nothing short of awesome. “You’re the Lifter” definitely provides a big-time, spiritual refresh. Let the church say YESSS!
