Ah, the “Florida Boy” is back. Who? Why Rick Ross of course! The 42-year old rapper had a sick spell earlier in 2018, but appears to be on the mend.  What better way to celebrate improving health than to drop a new single? On “Green Gucci Suit,” Ross invites the ever-ubiquitous Future along for the luxurious ride.

The key word concerning “Green Gucci Suit” is money, at least thematically.  That said, on the hook, Rick Ross repeats the titular lyric a total of ten times, only deviating to throw in the line, “Pack a hundred Backwoods and some Gucci shoes.” BTW, the Gucci shoes line is repeated three times.  Hmm, didn’t we already have Lil Pump and “Gucci Gang”? Ross follows up with a verse filled with excess.  He references the Lamborghini, Gucci (again), Cuban links… essentially, more of the same.  Future continues to repeat Gucci another bajillion times on the second verse, while also throwing in Avianne diamonds. Ross takes the reins on the third and final verse, but not without some Future in the mix as well, at the end of the verse.

Final Thoughts

Lyrically, “Green Gucci Suit” is about what you expect from a Rick Ross song.  Money is the modus operandi, and Future backs up his bro fittingly.  That said, give Ross credit for a change of pace regarding the production.  Sure, the trap beat isn’t ‘brand-new,’ but more often than not, we associate Ross with more soulful, luxurious beats.  That’s not the case on “Green Gucci Suit.” Ultimately, this is a respectable banger, but nothing game changing at this point in either rapper’s career.
