~ Album Reviews 💿 ~

Album reviews tend to follow a track-by-track format, commencing with an intro paragraph comprised of background information, and concluding paragraph that wraps things up. Also, GEMS 💎 – the best, highly recommended tracks – are selected at the end of each review. It should not come as a surprise to see the analysis run > 1000 words.

Yelawolf, Daylight | Track Review 🎵

Underrated, heavily-tatted, southern rapper Yelawolf returns with a new single, “Daylight.” “Daylight” plays to the MC’s strengths and southern roots.

Lady Gaga, Million Reasons | Track Review 🎵

Lady Gaga starkly contrasts promo single “Perfect Illusion” with country/folk-tinged, singer-songwriter ballad, “Million Reasons.”

Mary J. Blige, Thick of It | Track Review 🎵

Mary J. Blige makes stunning, emotional return with post-divorce single, “Thick of It,” the promo single for her album, Strength of a Woman.

Alicia Keys Blended Family (What You Do for Love) | Track Review 🎵

R&B singer/songwriter Alicia Keys comes from an honest place on personal new single “Blended Family” featuring A$AP Rocky.

John Legend, Love Me Now | Track Review 🎵

On promo single “Love Me Now,” John Legend embraces the neo-, post-R&B script, embedding soulfulness within the context of pop.

Bruno Mars, 24K Magic | Track Review 🎵

Bruno Mars returns with single “24K Magic,” a record dripping with swagger, characterized by 80s funk cues, and made for the airwaves.

Juicy J, Ballin’ | Track Review 🎵

Juicy J misses the mark on new single “Ballin,” featuring Kanye West. Despite spitting game and flexing, J sounds tired and uninspired.

Brett Young, Sleep Without You | Track Review 🎵

New country artist Brett Young showcases incredible potential on “Sleep Without You.” Though not new conceptually, “Sleep” has the ingredients to be a hit.

Cashmere Cat, Trust Nobody | Track Review 🎵

Cashmere Cat has a potential hit on his hands with “Trust Nobody.” He gets superb results with the help of Tory Lanez and Selena Gomez.

DNCE, Body Moves | Track Review 🎵

DNCE returns with “Cake By The Ocean” follow-up, “Body Moves,” yet another energetic, enthusiastic, and infectious single.
