Restless Modern, Tell Me What You're Sad [Photo Credit: RM Reach]Rising electronic/pop musician Restless Modern continues to showcase growth as a musician on vibe-laden, satirical gem, “Tell Me What You’re Sad About.”

“This is only me / Life for you is summer sweet / I got all the pain you need / Right here.” My, my, my! Hmm, running out of clever introductions regarding Restless Modern.  Have I mentioned he’s awesome already? Anyways, the rising electronic/pop singer, songwriter, and producer continues releasing multiple new singles throughout 2018. Nothing wrong with that considering the top-notch quality of the material he’s dropping.  Adding to an impressive collection of songs is “Tell Me What You’re Sad About.”

Who better to interpret the meaning of “Tell Me What You’re Sad About” than Restless Modern himself? Via Genius, he writes, “‘Tell Me What You’re Sad About’” is a song that satirizes my hypocrisy and my own inability to identify empathetically with others.” Damn… that’s deep.  Given such depth, the lyrics truly make this record absolutely stellar.  Some of the most memorable lyrics hail from the second verse, where he sings:

“Bring your worst to me

I’ve got all the darkest shit you’ve seen

Got no sympathy

Competition for the most empty.”

Of course, there’s also the chorus, the centerpiece:

“Oo tell me what you’re sad about

I got too many demons tryna kill me

I’m gone

Let me know if we’re vibing out

And let’s ride

It’s me first

And you’re fine

Oo tell me what you’re sad about

I got too many demons tryna kill me

I’m gone

A hypocrite at the worst times.”

Final Thoughts

So, above, we focused our attention on the theme and lyrics.  While they are key, the production of “Tell Me What You’re Sad About” shouldn’t be understated.  The backdrop is lovely and lush in quality, a perfect match to his vocals.  Speaking of the vocals, you’ve gotta love the R&B influence Restless Modern exhibits here, sigh.  He continues to progress tremendously as an artist.
