Remy Ma, Company © ColumbiaNew York rapper Remy Ma, assisted by rising rapper/singer A Boogie wit da Hoodie, shines on her latest single, “Company.”

37-year old rapper Remy Ma proves she still fresh on her latest single “Company,” featuring A Boogie wit da Hoodie (15 years her junior). “Company” features excellent production work, intact with slick synths and hard, anchoring drum programming. The first verse by Remy begins abruptly. Basically, she raps about her come-up.  Expectedly, she exudes toughness, delivering a compelling flow and confident rhymes.

A Boogie wit da Hoodie sings the first chorus, following Remy Ma’s first verse

“She just want good vibes, she just need company (company)
She don’t go outside unless she come for me (come for me) …
Lately I been runnin’ out of company
My baby said goodbye, now she don’t f*ck with me.”

Remy Ma actually sings the second chorus, following her second verse.  On verse number two, she straight-up flexes: “I just bought another house, so now that makes that number three.” Following the Remy chorus, A Boogie wit da Hoodie pop-raps the third verse (again, following it up with the chorus).

“I ain’t had no job, no 9 to 5, no, I was up the street

Now I got that guap, now I’m a problem, I’m a f*ckin’ beast.”

Boogie/Remy collaborate on the ‘fourth verse,’ a mix of Boogie’s sole verse and excerpts of Remy’s verses.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Remy Ma has a compelling single on her hands with “Company.” It’s well-produced, well-performed (including the contributions by A Boogie wit da Hood), and well-rounded.
