Rae Sremmurd, “Torpedo” [📷: Eardruma / Interscope]Chill bro rap duo Rae Sremmurd – Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi – is back with “Torpedo” but, is it really a big deal?

“Taking off for that case like torpedo /… She gotta suck my whole soul.” Hmm, wonder what 🎙 Swae Lee is getting at with she gotta suck my whole soul 😏… Anyways, chill, bro rap duo 🎙 Rae Sremmurd are back in all their, um, glory. The four-minute banger, 🎵 “Torpedo”, features respectable production work by 🎛 Sonny Digital, Austin Powerz, and SAV with its beat, keys, and, synths. Honestly, since last hearing from Sremm, little has changed.  “Torpedo” concocts a big mood but does not flip the rap game on its side.  Swae Lee draws first blood delivering the intro, the pre-chorus (excerpted), the chorus (“Married to the game, put a ring on it / It is what it is”), and the first verse.  If you had any doubts that Swae was talking about oral, he clarifies at the end of the verse, asserting, “She talkin’ too much, put dick in her throat (Take it).” Wow… So charming… Anyway, as for 🎙 Slim Jxmmi, he, like his brother, references the torpedo, as well as ample drip.  Notably, he references Johnny Bravo, Louboutins, Lil Wayne, and Steve-O. Woo!

Final Thoughts 💭

fire sunglassesSo, does one leave 🎵 “Torpedo” enthralled by the return of Rae Sremmurd? Nah, not really.  Again, it takes me back to when the duo were big, yet, “Torpedo” doesn’t feel like it is enough to propel them back into a highly competitive and saturated rap scene.  All told, it’s okay but no the second coming.
