Prophets of Rage © ConcordRock-Rap super-group Prophets of Rage drops the fiery “Unfuck the World,” the promo single from their self-titled debut album.

Prophets of Rage definitely have some pent-up rage – imagine that! Who are Prophets of Rage? The rap-rock band features members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill.  The new super-group drops their self-titled debut album in September 2017.  They kick off the promo campaign without the least bit of subtlety.  The title of their first single – “Unfuck the World.” Hmm, that’s some title…

“Unfuck the World” opens in spirited fashion.  While there’s a sense of control – it’s not cacophonous by any means – the opening notes hit the listener right in the chest.  After the initial hit, the music continues with a sense of darkness – a call-to-action – but does so with a surprising sense of musicality. When a song is titled “Unfuck the World,” the expectation is sheer maliciousness and a lack of dynamic contrast other than utter boisterousness.  The intro alone, which lasts nearly 50 seconds in duration, shows that Prophet or Rage have some range.

Then comes the heat! Prophets of Rage bring the pain, selling their call-to-action on the chorus:

“No hatred / Fuck racists / Blank faces / Time’s changin’ / One nation / Unification / The vibration / Unfuck the world!”

The best way to characterize the hook? It’s yet another component of the resist movement, aimed at a certain president, and a certain group of his followers.  Do the prophets mention Donald Trump specifically? No, but there are implications throughout the course of the single, including a line about 2020 – the next presidential election.  Furthermore, on the verses, which adds more depth supporting the message, they denounce politicians:

“Civilians buried in the rubble where dreams die / Politicians spew lie after fuckin’ lie.”

Final Thoughts

Musically, “Unfuck the World” ends up sounding the way one would anticipate – mean, resolute, and war ready.  Prophets of Rage are indeed angry, with the venom ready to infect those who have fucked the world by their estimations.  All in all, this is a perfect single to support the resistance by all means.  Earth shattering? Nah.
