PRETTYMUCH, No More © SycoUp-and-coming American boy band PRETTYMUCH enlist French Montana for the assist on their latest single, “No More.”

For those of us who thought, hoped, or lamented the fact that the boy band had faded, it hasn’t.  Leave it to Simon Cowell to resurrect the boy band from the dead.  His latest crop of heartthrobs is PRETTYMUCH.  As aforementioned, these boys definitely fit the bill in regards to looks. While eye-candy plays a big role in the marketability of the boy band, there also has to be catchy, music.  After releasing singles including “Would You Mind” and “Teacher,” the boys return with “No More,” featuring French Montana.

Expectedly, “No More” has its fair share of gimmickry. The vocals on the verses feel very playful and tongue-n-cheek.  Arguably, it’s a bit overdone.  Still, gimmicks and all, you see where the band is going. More intriguing is the chorus.  The chorus definitely has a throwback quality to the R&B male groups of the 90s and early 00s.  The lyrics are incredibly quick, characterized by hip-hop rhythms. At the same time, there are clear Latin vibes, evidenced earlier on the verses.

“Tell me what you want ‘cause I just can’t wait no more…/ I wanna be the one but I just don’t know if I can wait no more / No more, no more, no more, no more.”

Arguably, this is the biggest selling point of song.  Another bright spot are the sick, upper tenor vocals at the end of French Montana’s verse: “I can’t wait no more, baby.”

Final Thoughts

As aforementioned, the chorus is the biggest selling point of “No More.”  Otherwise, it’s merely okay.  The verses are so-so, jam-packed with gimmickry and arguably, forced ‘game.’ Furthermore, French Montana doesn’t provide much of memorable spark.  Is that shocking from the rapper, who seems to struggle with a distinct persona? Nope. Okay, but want to hear bigger things from PRETTYMUCH.
