Post Malone & Swae Lee, Sunflower [Photo Credit: Republic]Melodic rappers Post Malone and Swae Lee join forces on “Sunflower,” a promo single appearing on the soundtrack for ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’

Two of rap’s bigger names – Post Malone and Swae Lee – join forces on the single, “Sunflower.” “Sunflower” appears on the soundtrack for the forthcoming film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is set to be released December 14, 2018.  Keeping things short in duration, “Sunflower” just crosses the two-and-a-half-minute mark.

Among the selling points of “Sunflower” is the lush, rhythmic production.  Naturally, Swae Lee is made for this cut, with his chill persona and his melodic abilities.  Following a brief intro, he delivers a smooth first verse, as well as a memorable chorus.

“Then you’re left in the dust unless I stuck by ya
You’re a sunflower, I think your love would be too much
Or you’ll be left in the dust, unless I stuck by ya
You’re the sunflower, you’re the sunflower.”

Post Malone is also melodic, though he lacks the same finesse as Lee.  Even so, the contrast is appealing, and furthermore, he has some nice vocal harmonies going on.  As for the final chorus, also performed by Malone, Lee’s initial edition gets the edge.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Sunflower” is packed full of vibes.  That said, there’s also not much song, and arguably, one collaborator edges the other – that would be Swae Lee.  By the end of Post Malone’s final chorus, you still find yourself yearning for a little something more yet it never arrives.  Good, but could use a wee bit more.
