Rapper Polo G eschews that complicated thing called love in favor of sex on “My All,” a single where he embraces and exudes toughness.
“Love could have you in a trance you need to desperately wake up from.” Oh, snap, 🎙 Polo G. On his single, 🎵 “My All”, the rapper is critical of love, period. Specifically, he is critical of one particular girl, whom he characterizes as an “ungrateful bitch” – ouch! In the chorus, he continues spitting, melodically, “I gave that ungrateful bitch my all, that wasn’t enough, huh / No, I swear these hoes, you can’t trust ‘em / Baby, I don’t want relations, I’m just tryna fuck some /… I hate that I was too deep in so young.”
Basically, Polo G is not feeling love. He is more concerned with his bag and his career in the first verse. A prime example of this occurs at the end of the verse, which also confirms his desires to have sex without committing to a relationship (“Me and Liv just fucked Philly up, fucking hoes, I done bust plenty nuts”). In the second, there is plenty of street talk and violence, as well as remembering two twins from his neighborhood that were shot dead (“Had to watch ’em get put in the grave, them the same niggas I stood with”).
Final Thoughts 💭
The question is, does Polo G put together cohesive bars on 🎵 “My All”? Well, he does in the sense that he exudes toughness and does not want to get caught up in love. This is not the best or most perfect single from the rapper, but it is worthwhile, all in all.
