Grammy-winning pop musician P!nk checks off all boxes and maintains consistency on her brand-new single, “Walk Me Home.”
Anytime that Grammy-winning pop artist P!nk releases a brand-new single, it’s ‘kind of a big deal.’ Honestly, she’s just a special artist, period. Her latest release, “Walk Me Home” is no different. The ‘queen of consistency’ maintains that consistency, delivering yet another well-rounded music performance, which serves as the promo single for the album set to follow-up Beautiful Trauma (2017).
“Walk Me Home” blends a couple of different stylistic ideas, including pop, rock, singer/songwriter, and some electronic elements. Even though there are electronic elements, this record possesses the feel of more of an updated take on a classic folk song. P!nk never overindulges, maintain poise as she sings. That doesn’t mean that “Walk Me Home” never reaches a point where it rouses the listener, it just means it doesn’t go into overblown, gospel histrionics territory. The lyrics are simple enough, but also thoughtful on both the verses. As often is the case, the first verse is longer than the second. There is a bridge, but lyrically, the “ooh-ooh(s)” are more vibe than meaningful lyrics per se. The centerpiece and best moments throughout “Walk Me Home” come by way of the chorus.
“Walk me home in the dead of night
I can’t be alone with all that’s on my mind, mhm
So, say you’ll stay with me tonight
‘Cause there is so much wrong goin’ on outside.”
Final Thoughts
Once more, P!nk ‘brings the heat’ with her first new single, and the promo single for her upcoming album, “Walk Me Home.” The record isn’t game changing, but it finds one of the most consistent artists in the game continuing to be incredibly consistent. “Wale Me Home” checks off the boxes that it’s supposed to, led by a great vocal performance.
